Honest Hire Writers.com Review
Hot on the heels of the success of my honest iWriter review, I’m giving you a 100% honest and accurate review of an exciting new content service, Hire Writers (you can sign up for a client account to buy articles here). Just so you know, I’m only reviewing Hire Writers from the point of view of buying content there; I haven’t actually got the time at the moment to go and write any articles for pay to get a feel for the experience, but I may do so in the future if I’ve got a little bit of spare time.
I heard about Hire Writers when I received an email from Brandon, one of the Hire Writers team, who said he really enjoyed my iWriter review and wanted me to do one for his service. Obviously I jumped at the opportunity, because I always love the chance to give a honest review of a new service. Now I must be clear and up-front here; I was given an account with $10.00 credit to buy an article, but this will not interfere with the truthfulness of my review one iota.
Now let’s begin with my Hire Writers.com review, and see if you can get good quality content for decent prices. Remember that content is the foundation of all good websites, and writing your own content takes a heck of a long time (heck, it will probably take me about five hours to write this one blog post… so you had better damn well enjoy it).
You can sign up for Hire Writers yourself here; there is a bonus credit offer for when you first register your account, so I would suggest that you take advantage of this offer immediately.
Anyway, here’s my experience with Hire Writers.com:
Arriving at the site I was greeted with a very professional looking interface, apart from a few ads scattered here and there (if you’re trying to sell a digital service, then I don’t think you should place any potentially distracting advertisements anywhere on your page). Registering an account is as easy as clicking to “get content written”:
Once you’ve got your account created and configured, you can credit it using all the usual methods like Paypal or your preferred credit card. In the above photo you can see some of the low prices on offer – but beware that you won’t be getting the best possible service for such small amounts of money.
If you’ve ever used iWriter, then you’ll feel immediately at home. In fact, I would have to lay a bit of criticism here for saying that Hire Writers is set up too much like iWriter. However, the service and layout is more professional and the interface cleaner, so I can’t knock too many points off.
Once your account is credited, getting an article (or group of articles) written is just a case of clicking the big green button that says “get content written”:
From there it’s just a case of providing all the information you need to get your article(s) written effectively. You give a project description, article category, article length (I usually prefer in the region of 500-700 words), pick whether your want British or American English, and you’re almost there. It’s all very self-explanatory.
The only thing that confused me somewhat was the “writer’s time limit”, which is a feature I haven’t seen in any content marketplace before. As implied, you can pick a time limit for your articles – I’m going to guess that the longer the time limit you allow, the higher your chances of getting good articles are.
Picking the “writer’s skill level” will have a direct impact on the quality of the articles you get, and the higher their standard, the more you have to pay. As a rule, I will never pick beginner or general writers for anything on content marketplaces… although you get dirt cheap articles the quality is rarely up to scratch. Skilled writers offer a good trade-off between price and performance, and expert writers are obviously the pick of the bunch but cost the most. At the end of the day, it really comes down to how much you can afford and what kind of content you are after.
You also get the opportunity to pick the number of articles you want (I’ve picked just one), and what sort of tone you want from the writing. Generally, friendly style articles perform the best for blog or niche content websites. You can then specify the keywords you want to target with your articles, and you’re almost ready to go:
The only other thing I would mention about getting your articles tasked up is the ability to offer special instructions to writers, in order to get your articles looking just the way you want them. Here are the instructions I gave:
It always pays to instruct writers to use lots of bullet points and short paragraphs, as this ensures a higher quality result.
You can either pay the minimum price for an article (I paid $8.50 here) or you can specify a higher price to attract better writers. I prefer to set the price at its minimum with any content marketplace, and then use the tipping function on the back end to reward excellent service and quality.
Once you’ve submitted the article and your job is underway, you can monitor who has picked up your work, how long they have left to write the article, and manage all your projects from one convenient dashboard. Cool huh?
Now the proof is in the pudding, so rather than “bore” you with any more information I will link you directly to the article I purchased from Hire Writers, so you can see the caliber of the content you’ll get for around the $10 USD mark:

I think that this is a perfectly adequate article for the money. It’s not perfect, but at the same time it is eminently readable and ticks all the boxes. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about, and the standard is higher than comparable services. Hire Writers only accepts writers from English-speaking majority countries, so you’ll always get better results.
Compared with iWriter, which is its main competition, Hire Writers is leagues ahead.
To conclude, I give HireWriters.com a solid 4 out of 5 stars for its efforts (at least from the point of view of a content buyer; I’m not qualified to comment about the site in terms of writing articles for payment, because I haven’t actually tried that yet. I will do another review down the track when I have written a few articles, so stay tuned.
Although it shares many similarities with iWriter, I truly think that Hire Writers delivers a superior experience. The caliber of the content on offer seems higher (perhaps this is due to the selective nature of where writers can apply from – I’m not 100% sure). The service isn’t perfect; nor was the article I received. However, if you’re after a quick and convenient way to get some good quality content for your site, then you really cannot go past Hire Writers. The fact that you can also offer tips to writers who consistently deliver great articles is ideal; this way you can build up a useful relationship with someone who knows exactly what you want from your articles.
Get on board with Hire Writers today, and start making a real investment in your business by adding quality articles to your site.
I agree that hirewriters.com use to be a good writing source for thousands of people, but lately Clients have been complaining about the response services of Brandon. Look if you are going to hire someone for independent contracting article writing jobs, you need to consider your clients concerns.
I think a article need to address some of those concerns and see how many people actually respond:
Concerns such as:
Ratings being destroyed due to technical errors
Clients being fired from jobs, before work actually is submitted (hurts ratings and there is nothing that is done by it per Brandon)
Not many assignments out there for skilled or expert writers, unless BRANDON issues them to you (makes you wonder as a writer)
The list goes on and on…
Have you ever noticed the ONLY tech support is someone named Brandon?? This too is highly questionable.
Hirewriters.com need to get some kinks out of their system and listen to their clients/ independent workers before other companies such as FIverr.com, iwriter.com, etc picks up the slack for them.
Oh…did I write Fiverr.com or iwriter.com?? Sorry, because if you take a look at them, and ask a question, someone named BRNADON answers you too. Look in to it for yourself. People should know about them and connect the pieces.
Hello, I’m a writer, and I’ve written for HireWriter for some time now. This is my review of them, and it doesn’t match yours:
An Inside Look at Hire Writers
There are many ways to make money online and content writing is one of them. I have been a content writer for about five years, and I know that there is money to be made, provided that you choose to work with the right websites. Hire Writer is not a site that you want to work with if you intend to make any money. It has a sliding tiered payment system, with levels from beginner, to general, skilled, then expert. They pay weekly, through Paypal. Easy money online. This is not a positive Hire Writer review. What’s wrong with it?
They make you “earn” your stars as a writer – but you can’t leave the client any feedback.
The hierarchy system is a pathetic attempt to cheese a writer out of his money – no matter your skill level you are required to squirm you way from the bottom level to the top of the pile. This isn’t such a bad thing, except you’re left to the mercy of poor instructions written by people that don’t speak the same language. These so called, “SEO website specialists” can give you a poor grade for something that was stellar – and there’s nothing you can do about it. You don’t get a good rating, and you don’t get paid. That means years of experience in your field mean nothing. A LOT of Hire Writer reviews agree that this is unfair practice.
Once you earn your rating, they can take it away.
Once you get to be an “expert” writer (which is a four point something rating – fair enough) you can go back down and not access expert jobs. The rating is the average of star ratings that you get, combined with your percentage of late (or timed out) jobs. Since the “rating scale” slides, you can accrue a couple of mishandled reviews and your “skill level” is back down to earning a dollar an article. By the way, if you time out on a job, you automatically get “fired” and you can’t get the job back. Great way to get rated, huh? Many writer’s skill level went down when they added the late jobs percentage to the star rating – which the website did before they sent an email telling the writers what they were doing. Imagine being logged in and suddenly you can’t see your jobs.
They steal your tips.
Did you know that Hire Writer takes 25% of your tip before you even see it? Yes, sir. Hand in the cookie jar much? You earned that tip. Hire Writer didn’t earn it for you, and it wasn’t part of the payment for the job. It’s a tip. 25%. I guess when you’re writing your own Hire Writer review, you can add “takes all my money” to the list of “cons.”
And exactly what are you going to do about it?
Nothing. You can’t feed back to the client, but you can contact support. The support team surely must be only one or two uneducated, classless mail clerks, and should probably be in another field. The responses to the support tickets are laughable.
In one instance, there were several writers working from the same household, and one of the young women in the account received this:
Hi,
You are only allowed to have 1 writing account on our website.
We will need to close ALL of your writing accounts if you continue to use multiple accounts. Pick one, and stick with it.
We will be reviewing your accounts soon to make sure you are complying with this.
Please note that there was no name or signature, and no identifying markers. I say note this, because the targeted writer at first assumed it was SPAM.
So the writer replied with this message, in a ZenDesk (that’s the support used by HireWriter) ticket.

I just received an email from you stating that I have been using multiple accounts. I have only ever used one account. I do not understand where this is coming from. Can you please explain as I am now worried about my accounts security. I will be changing my password immediately in case there was a breach to my account.
This is where things get sticky. Brandon does get back with the writer, and he does so, very eloquently. Look:

We know you do use multiple accounts… so please don’t deny it ok?
Just stick to one account.

Ok, really? Is that how people are treated? Sweep it under the rug, and it will be ok, just stop doing it? Do they pat the other writers on the ass when they plagiarize too? I’m betting. The writer continued writing, as did the other writers in the house, all of us worried about the security of our accounts. The drama ensued at about 3AM a week later, when one of us logs into their account to find it frozen. The targeted writer sends another message to Brandon.

you sent me an email stating I had given personal info out and I have not, now my account is frozen. So is my fathers. we work in the same home from the same computers. I have tried to explain this .is there any way we can resolve this as I have not violated any of your rules.

I’m sorry, your account has been closed for good.
You attempted to work outside of our service on oDesk with greensource (one of our clients) who later went and asked us for his money back on our site.
You were an expert here on our site, and I let you use multiple accounts, but that wasn’t good enough for you… you still jumped at the chance to bypass our service…
Thanks,
Brandon
HireWriters Support
Did someone outsource? No. An expensive article was picked up by one of the writers in the house. Later, he received a mutual cancellation from the client. The writer offered his well wishings, and the lady mentioned that she didn’t like HireWriter, and had taken her work to oDesk. Did he follow? No. However, the lady evidently wanted her money back, and that makes Hire Writer mad, so what does Brandon do? He shuts the house down. One more thing? The writer in question maintains that the client was a woman. Brandon says “his” …why nitpick? It proves that “Brandon” doesn’t know jack about his clients. The rest of the account holders in the house all contacted support, and one even snapped a picture of the four writers in the house and sent it in with a support ticket.
The other writer does not anticipate a reply, and it would be par for the course as an example of this website’s true aim. The situation for the writers at that IP address and the replies of the support team are certainly enough to see the dirt beneath their fingernails. If you write for HireWriter, beware! The Content Mafia can take your account and pee on you before you even know it. If you haven’t heard of them, try oDesk or Text Broker, because any website that has a review like some of Hire Writer’s reviews can’t be that great and then comes up with crappy support is bound to fail.. They’re good websites that require some verification before you can work, and can even give you a chance to earn an hourly wage.
After working with Hire Writers for about 4 weeks, my account was frozen for no reason, with no warning, and no explanation. They repeatedly ignore my emails requesting to know why. As well, other family members have also had their accounts frozen for no reason. One did get a response back from :”Brandon” who told her it was because she had missed a deadline, which she never did. I’m sure we will never see the money that we rightfully earned either. Whoever owns/runs this website does not do business in an ethical or professional way, and I suspect much of how they operate is intentional fraud. Avoid them at all costs.
Kat
Hi Katrina, that’s absolutely terrible. Although I had fairly good service with Hire Writers from the perspective of buying content, I’m shocked to hear stories like yours. Approximately how much money are you owed?
Sam
After 5 articles, each with a 5 star review, my account got frozen. When I queried it, I got fed this line:
“I’m sorry, but after a review of your writing, our editorial staff decided that it is probably best if you do not continue to write for us.”
I asked for an explanation, and they closed the ticket without a response. It was only when I let them know that I planned to let others know about my experience that they responded, saying that my writing wasn’t good enough. Many of the listings explicitly allow for “spun” articles, and I’ve written extensively for newspapers and magazines.
I’m confident that the quality of the writing was not the issue. I believe it was the ticket I opened complaining about jobs in the 0-150 word category asking for 300+ words that got me labelled as a troublemaker.
Hi Ivan, thanks for taking the time to comment on my review of Hire Writers.com
I’m gutted to hear your account got blasted like that … this seems to be a reasonably common thread if you look at other comments.
Can I suggest trying to freelance your article writing through the Warrior Forum’s “For Hire” section, or Blackhat World?
Sam
